Easy x Simple checklist

I began this series by distinguishing the difference between To Confound and To Confuse. (Details in previous post To Confound #1).

Essentially, easy does not require effort while simple lacks complication.

Removing complications is what makes life hard.

Our minds crave the quick fix, the easy!

If it’s easy, then why bother putting in the effort to “uncomplicate” the process by disentangling complex elements that anchor growth and transformation?

I INVITE YOU to Play the mind game below.

Which of these do you confound by melding together? More often than not, people find themselves bridging between “easy & hard” resulting in a continuous cycle of confounding confusion. Easy because it takes no effort, hard because it’s not simple for the soul to accept.

Ask yourself where you stand on the list below between “easy & effortless” and “simple & hard” or do you end up in both categories?

  1. Disagree in silence
  2. Follow the status quo
  3. Do what is asked
  4. Hold on to tradition
  5. Repeat unhealthy habits
  6. Stray from risks
  7. Abandon dreams
  8. Drift from goals
  9. Accept limitations
  10. Convince yourself that it’s not worth it

Was that list easy or hard to Answer?

Change management is always associated with the workplace.

But to manage change is within our individual minds and begins with our individual lives.

Imagine the list above reading like:

  • I did not disagree in silence, for I spoke my mind.
  • The status quo does not make sense, I sought a purposeful path.
  • I made proactive suggestions to improve what was asked of me.
  • I integrated innovation to transform tradition.
  • I created new healthy habits.
  • I took a measured risk.
  • I embraced my dreams.
  • I am drifting towards my goals.
  • I question limitations.
  • I convinced myself that it’s worth it!

None of these answers are easy and effortless. They must go through the complex process of simplification and that is hard to do.

Think about which are easy & effortless and which are simple & hard for you!
