Simple does not equate to Easy

It is simple to _______
but certainly not easy!

Throughout the week I found myself bickering with myself. Have you ever done that?

So I jotted down a list, filling in the blank above, with all of my simple frustrations that should be easy to accomplish but felt hard to do.

  • It’s simple to wake up with an alarm clock, but never easy to roll out of bed!
  • It’s simple to lose weight, but not easy to consume less calories than I spend in a day.
  • It’s simple to fill out expense reports and time sheets, but not easy to get myself to do it.
  • It’s very simple to fill the car up with gas, but sooo not easy to take the detour to the gas station.
  • It’s simple to record a Reel, but not easy to feel prompted.
  • It’s simple to say no, yet not easy to set limits.
  • It’s simple to stack the dishes in the dishwasher, but easily forgotten.
  • It’s simple to write this list, but it’s not easy to admit that these simple action items can be difficult accomplishments!

How do we make “simple” easy?
We begin by admitting that we turn simplicity into complexity by confounding determination and action.

My list of “simple but not easy” are things I just don’t like! They are action items that need to get done.

A change in mindset makes them easier, when tagging “fun” to them. So, that is what I am going to do this coming week for each item on my list. Let’s see if they become easier.
